Duende

You don't actually know how much you practise.

A runner can tell you their weekly mileage to the decimal. Ask a musician how much they practised last week and you'll get “a fair bit, I think.” Duende closes that gap.

The questions it answers

How it works

An honest clock

The timer runs on wall-clock time, not on whether the app is awake. Lock your phone mid-session and every second still counts.

Playing, not sitting

Optionally, the microphone tells playing from silence — so you find out how much of that “hour” was actually playing. The audio never leaves your phone.

Streaks and history

A daily goal, a running streak, and a heatmap of the last three months. The unglamorous Tuesdays add up to something visible.

What you worked on

Tag sessions by focus — technique, repertoire, sight reading, improvisation. Jot notes mid-session without stopping the clock.

Any instrument

Forty-plus instruments across strings, keys, wind, percussion and voice. Track as many as you play.

Post it to Strava

Connect Strava and your practice appears alongside your training, where the rest of your effort already lives. Entirely optional.

Why it's built this way

Practice is the part nobody sees. It doesn't come with a finish line, a race number or a personal best, so it's the easiest thing in a musician's life to overestimate and the hardest to stick to. Duende does the boring bit — counting honestly — so the hours have somewhere to go.

Your history is private to your account. You can delete any session, or your whole account, from inside the app.
